NEWS:
Just performed with GMA dove winner and Grammy nominated
artist Kim Hill at the Atlanta'
Women's conference here in Atlanta. I've been a long time fan of
Kim's music and have done just a few scattered performances with her in the
past. Besides being one of the most genuine people you'll ever meet,
Kim is an incredibly great musician and songwriter. Be sure to check out
her new album. I'll be doing more upcoming dates in Fall as well.
Peace for Sale
The wonderful folks at the Georgia
Music Hall of Fame are now selling Heavenly Peace. They
will be carrying the new releases as well. If you are visiting Macon, (and
you should) check the GMHF out for an incredible tribute to Georgia Artists and their
Music. Thanks to the lovely Melvina Spence for her support...
Just my Imagination : working with childhood legends....
Finished up playing with the incredible Temptations. Original member
Glen Leonard and his guys were not only incredible performers and
gentlemen, but an absolute spiritual inspiration to be around. All the
members of our band perform praise and worship weekly, and are surrounded by
some of Atlanta's most powerful church leaders. But until working with the
Temptations, I've never experienced that spirit in a "secular" concert
environment. Plus it was magical to play the songs I grew up and cherished with
the real deal. update: Playing the sold out temptations
reunion concert at Atlanta's historic Fox theater was priceless.
Devil with a blue dress and Down in the boondocks
Hot Summer fun- In front of a gigantic (2000 plus) crowd- myself
and the rest of the guys from the "Andy Band" just played an
incredible two-fer with Billy Joe Royal and Mitch Ryder. Billy Joe was the
consummate gentleman and I loved playing "Cherry Hill Park" and
"I knew you when" He
sounded ageless. Next up was Mitch
Ryder, who knocked it out of the park. It was a huge blast to play songs with the original
artist and his songs that you've played in cover bands all your life.
Most oldies shows are stressful because as the sole back up band, we often have
several acts and insane amounts of material to cover and rehearse. Not
this one- Mitch was as cool as can be and I 've never had more fun just
playing honest full out, take
no prisoners, Rock and Roll. We will be playing some USA and
European shows with Mitch in fall and summer 2007 stay
tuned!.
Christmas 2006
Finished playing the Holiday hop at the gorgeous Riverside Arts center in
Columbus Ga- this year the Coasters, Drifters and our good friend Dee Dee and the
Crystals.
Hot Buttered Soul up close........

I Recently had the honor of playing with one of my all time favorite
Keyboardists/Artists- Mr. Isaac Hayes.
(Shaft/Chef) We opened and closed for Isaac on a recent gig- During
a photo op I mentioned that I had a B3 on stage with his name on it if he wanted
sit in. We were deep into a dance set when the Man came up and did
his classic version of "By the time I get to Phoenix"- I sat right by,
comped on piano and giggled like a little girl. See the
B3 page for more photos. My humble thanks to Isaac for signing my
"Chef" card too!.....
It isn't done yet?
Ah the great American Cd. I think the Apollo 13 mission and World War
II combined took less time to plan then my CD. . We are starting the new studio late December 2003 and hope to be
finished by early February 04. First project will be finishing up the
mixes for the Zen of love. Second project is my band mate David
Brown's new Cd....stay tuned for details. Also be sure to check the
forthcoming studio in progress link to see the evolution of an empty shell
into a real studio.
